Macarons, the history of these decadent little treats is rich with controversy. When you look back over time there’s rumours as to its true origins.
There has always been great debate about the origins of the beautiful macaron. The stories are as varied as the flavours with some believing the macaron was first created in 1791 in a convent near Cormery.
Others have traced its French introduction back to the arrival of Catherine de’ Medici’s Italian pastry chefs in 1533 upon marrying Henry II of France.
